Wanting to learn how to ride a 125cc but can't decide which scooter to buy? Well you'll be pleased to know you're in the right place...
In this blog, we are going to be running down 10 of the best 125cc scooters for under £2,500.
Let's get into it!
10. Keeway Fact
Coming in at number ten, and kicking off our list today is a popular, funky, and sporty scoot - the Keeway Fact X.
Producing 10bhp from its air-cooled 125cc engine, the FACT X as expected in this class of scooter is a no-thrills scooter aimed at the younger audience. With its sporty aesthetics and GS style headlight, the Fact X comes with 4 colourway options to choose from including Blue, White, Orange, and Grey.
As a small wheeled compact scooter, it shows you the FACT X is at home in urban situations allowing you to utilise its small agile nature to nip around town and traffic.
Spotted on AutoTrader starting from £1,999 the Fact X is a great option for those with around £2,000 to spend.
9. Sinnis Shuttle 125
Onto number nine, and we have fellow sports and a slightly chunky-styled scooter from Sinnis, in the way of the Sinnis Shuttle.
Available in two colourway options including Canyon Red or Ultimate White, the Shuttle has a true sports scooter aesthetic, well versed from the early noughties. Although this styling is a little dated by today’s standards, by no means is it offensive, take into consideration that the price of just £1,799 on the ads - it makes this scoot extremely appealing.
Again at this pricepoint, you can’t be asking for a lot when it comes to spec, though Sinnis claims there is LED lighting and a USB socket for charging too.
Power is admittedly quite low coming in at just 8bhp from the air-cooled 125cc engine, but if you intend to have a scooter in a town or city where it won’t be exceeding 40mph too much then it might well be a good option for you.
8. Lexmoto SRT
Up next and jumping into the eighth spot today, we have another sports scooter - this time it is the Lexmoto SRT 125.
Now it is fair to say, whereas the first two mentions might be a little on the dated side. The SRT from Lexmoto looks great with very modern, sharp, and aggressive lines combined with colourway options that work in harmony with the bodywork.
Available in the awesome grey/red colourway or the brighter grey/yellow, the SRT is a great looking scooter, and you have to say that the price of just £2,099, looks a bargain.
Packing 8.6 ponies from its 125cc air-cooled engine, the SRT is one of the lesser powered options on this list, so you will be best suited in slower environments, but at least it will look good in the process.
7. Kymco Agility
Moving onto number seven, we have our first larger wheeled European-styled scooter in the form of the Kymco Agility.
The Agility mixes modern style with European commuter benefits such as a slightly bigger frame, longer seat, and slightly bigger wheels, offering that little more suitability to travelling at fast speeds. The Agility will still be perfectly at home in any urban environment you put it in, but the slightly larger wheels will help bring even more meaning to the Agilitiy’s name.
With an output of 8.8bhp from you guessed it, the 125cc air-cooled engine the Agility would be hard-pressed to get beyond speeds of 60mph, but that will be fine for most inner-city folk.
Available in three colourways, Brown, Black and Blue, it is most definitely the Blue which takes my pick as the best colourway. Spotted on Autotrader starting from just £2,199, the Agility is our 4th bargain pick so far!
6. Lexmoto Aura
Sitting at sixth, we have another entry from Lexmoto by way of the the Lexmoto Aura 125, a model from Lexmoto deliberately designed to take on the big guns of the 125cc scooter market such as the Honda PCX and Yamaha Nmax, the Aura is a very modern and stylish looking scooter indeed.
With a stated 86mpg from Lexmoto, with keyless ignition, USB charging port, and LED headlight, the Aura is a bargain model that is trying to add a little bit more spec to its bargain price. Recently the Aura has been priced over £2,500 however, I’ve spotted on the ads from just £2099 which really does cement the Aura 125 as a bargain right now.
The Aura as well is one of the more powerful on this list putting out 9.7hp from its air-cooled 125cc motor. Though it isn’t quite the 14.7hp limit you can get in the class, it is very difficult to get these for under £2,500, so at almost 10hp this puts it more in the respectable placement.
Available in Red or Grey the Aura does put itself nicely in the mix with its level of spec for the price.
5. Sym Jet 14
Halfway through the list and next up, we have the Sym Jet 14.
The modern and stylish Sym Jet 14 is an air-cooled beauty with a shade of over 10hp.
The Jet 14 is a very stylish and sophisticated scooter, with visuals making it look like it has come from Japan. Making it a very firm competitor to the best the 125cc market has to offer with the PCx and Nmax.
Another great thing about the Jet 14 has got to be the variety of colourway options available including satin black, gloss grey, gloss red, white, and blue grey. Combine that with its integrated indicators, smoked black screen, large twin headlights, and modern styling - the Jet 14 is a model that will have the mass appeal.
Spotted with a starting price of just £2299, the Jet 14 is a bargain right now for a scooter that not so long ago was costing £2,800.
4. Suzuki Address 125
Just missing out on a top three position we have the Suzuki Address 125 - a scooter we have managed to test here at BikeMatters!
A rather unassuming and bland scooter, you might be asking why the Suzuki Address 125 is so far on the list.
Well firstly, let us get the obvious out of the way, this is from a renowned Japanese manufacturer with a history of building quality and dependable machines, so not only should it have longevity on its side but it will also more than likely fare better than most on this list in regards to resale value.
Secondly, the Address has been designed as a user-friendly, reliable workhorse of a scooter designed to do its job well with great consumption figures with Suzuki stating the Address should achieve 148mpg, though real-world use expects it closer to 110mpg. With 8.6hp it isn’t going to be confused with a rocket, but it does allow for that great fuel economy.
With Suzuki reliability and quality, this is a scooter that should be pretty built-proof and that is why it finds itself in position number four. Lastly, onto the price and you can pick one of these bad boys up from £2495 in either Blue, Red, or White.
3. Suzuki Burgman
Taking that third sport is the Suzuki Burgman Street EX!
Yup, that is right the Suzuki Address’s brother the Burgman Street EX nips in just ahead of the Address, clinching third today.
Similar to the Address, we recently got our hands on the Burgman Street and it's safe to say we are quite the fans. With better cosmetics and start-stop tech, the Burgman is still quite dull in performance figures with just over 8hp, but again we have to take into account the fuel economy with 148mpg stated an expectation of over 100 mpg in the real world and the real world versatility and usability the Burgman has to offer, while backed with Suzuki reliability and quality, a 3-year warranty is handy to get on a 125cc scooter as well!
Whereas the Burgman name is pretty famous for being a maxi-scooter the Burgman Street EX is very much a compact city-dwelling scooter. The looks of the Burgman Street EX might be a little on the dated side in my opinion, but with integrated indicators, and large single headlights, it still remains a scooter that will tick a lot of boxes for people, something Suzuki are very good at. Available in Grey, Black or White the Burgman Street EX can be purchased for just £2,499.
2. Piaggio Liberty 125
The Piaggio Liberty is a scooter we tested back in 2023 and we were impressed with it then!
With a starting price of £2,800 from new, the Piaggio Liberty 125 can be picked up currently from a mere £2,199 which makes it an unbelieve bargain in my opinion.
With a traditional slim and euro chic design the Liberty is a scooter designed perfectly for inner city travelling and commuting. With a 16” front and 14 “ rear wheel, the Liberty is a very agile and rider-friendly scooter. With a professional look about it you’d expect to seeing these in their masses around all major European cities in their masses with suited and booted riders going to and from the office.
With full LED lighting, and available in white, grey or black it might not be the most thrilling in colourway options but there is still a lot going for the Liberty, packed with a frugal i-get 124cc engine which produces just shy of 11hp, can return almost 110mpg. It might not be as grand as its big brother the Piaggio Medley, but what the Liberty does is provide a great scooter, with impressive quality, styling and engine for a price associated with budget Chinese branded offers. Seeing this available on AutoTrader from just £2,199 really does make it a bargain cheap 125cc scooter to me. You can find the link to Brett’s full review of the Piaggio Liberty 125 in the description too.
1. Yamaha RayZR
Taking the number 1 spot for the best cheap 125cc scooter for 2024 has got to be the Yamaha RayZR 125.
Announced at the tail end of 2023 the RayZR spec initially came across as rather uninspiring however, when the price was announced at a later point it soon put it all in perspective of what a piece of kit you are getting.
With modern, sharp lines and available in Red or Black the RayZR has been developed by Yamaha to be a very cheap and affordable scooter with Yamaha quality and reliability, and it is fair to say the RayZR achieves this.
Starting from an incredibly low price of £2,298, the RayZR is already selling in huge numbers and we really can’t see this declining anytime soon. With a modest 8hp from its 125cc air-cooled engine it won’t be pulling any trees up, but like pretty much all on this list, they are cheap commuter scooters so we are never going to see 14.7hp models on this list for budget prices.
With a power-assist function to help with acceleration, lightweight nature at just 99kg and the frugal Blue Core engine the RayZR should be pretty impressive when it comes to fuel economy. To get another Japanese branded scooter for under £2,500 in today’s world is great to have, and with everything the RayZR has to offer, for me, it just clinches number 1!
